                         precipita{\c{c}}{\~o}es na regi{\~a}o Sul do Brasil associadas 
                         {\`a}s temperaturas da superf{\'{\i}}cie dos Oceanos 
                         Pac{\'{\i}}fico e Atl{\^a}ntico. Tabelas de conting{\^e}ncia 
                         foram usadas para avaliar, atrav{\'e}s do escore das 
                         caracter{\'{\i}}sticas operacionais relativas, as 
                         ocorr{\^e}ncias simult{\^a}neas trimestrais das 3 categorias de 
                         precipita{\c{c}}{\~a}o (abaixo, quase e acima da normal), 
                         agrupadas em 3 sub-regi{\~o}es homog{\^e}neas (Litor{\^a}nea, 
                         Sul e Continental), e de temperatura da superf{\'{\i}}cie dos 2 
                         oceanos, no Pac{\'{\i}}fico Equatorial (Niņo 3.4) e no 
                         Atl{\^a}ntico Sudoeste. Tamb{\'e}m avaliaram-se as 
                         influ{\^e}ncias das temperaturas da superf{\'{\i}}cie do 
                         Pac{\'{\i}}fico no Atl{\^a}ntico Sudoeste. Temperaturas abaixo 
                         da normal no Atl{\^a}ntico Sudoeste est{\~a}o significativamente 
                         associadas a precipita{\c{c}}{\~o}es abaixo da normal na 
                         Primavera e Ver{\~a}o, principalmente no grupo litor{\^a}neo. 
                         Por outro lado, temperaturas acima da normal est{\~a}o associadas 
                         {\`a}s precipita{\c{c}}{\~o}es acima da normal no Ver{\~a}o no 
                         grupo Sul, Outono no Continental e no ano todo no litor{\^a}neo. 
                         Os eventos de El Niņo, classificados pelo crit{\'e}rio de 
                         Trenberth, est{\~a}o significativamente associados a 
                         precipita{\c{c}}{\~o}es acima da normal no Inverno e na 
                         Primavera nos grupos litor{\^a}neo e Sul. Os eventos de La Niņa 
                         est{\~a}o significativamente associados com 
                         precipita{\c{c}}{\~o}es abaixo da normal somente na Primavera, 
                         nos grupos litor{\^a}neo e Sul. As temperaturas da 
                         superf{\'{\i}}cie do Pac{\'{\i}}fico Equatorial durante os 
                         eventos de La Niņa, independente da esta{\c{c}}{\~a}o do ano, 
                         est{\~a}o significativamente associadas a temperaturas abaixo da 
                         normal no Atl{\^a}ntico Sudoeste. Durante os eventos de El Niņo, 
                         influ{\^e}ncias significativas com temperaturas abaixo da normal 
                         no Atl{\^a}ntico Sudoeste foram observadas no Ver{\~a}o 
                         (simult{\^a}nea) e no Outono (defasada de 1 trimestre). ABSTRACT: 
                         The interannual and seasonal variability of rainfall in the 
                         Southern region of Brazil associated with the Pacific and Atlantic 
                         SSTs were analyzed. Contingency tables were used to evaluate, 
                         through the relative operating characteristics score, the 
                         quarterly simultaneous occurrence of the 3 rainfall categories 
                         (below, near and above normal), grouped in 3 homogeneous 
                         sub-regions (Coastal, Southern and Continental) and Equatorial 
                         Pacific (Niņo 3.4) and SW Atlantic SST categories. Also were 
                         evaluated the Pacific surface temperature influence on the SW 
                         Atlantic ones. Below normal temperatures over the SW Atlantic were 
                         significantly associated with below normal rainfall in Austral 
                         Spring and Summer, mainly in the coastal group. On the other hand, 
                         above normal temperatures were associated with above normal 
                         rainfall in Summer in the Southern group, in Autumn in the 
                         continental, and all over the year in the coastal group. El Niņo 
                         events, classified by Trenberth's criterion, are significantly 
                         associated to above normal rainfall in Winter and Spring in the 
                         coastal and Southern groups. La Niņa events are significantly 
                         associated to below normal rainfall only in Spring in the coastal 
                         and Southern groups. Equatorial pacific SSTs during La Niņa 
                         events, independently of season, were significantly associated to 
                         below normal temperatures in the SW Atlantic. During El Niņo 
                         events, significant influences with below normal temperatures in 
                         the SW Atlantic were observed in Summer (simultaneous) and Autumn 
                         (1 quarter lagged).",
